Calgary's best kept secret is.... Chocolate!

Who would have thought that Calgary has all these amazing chocolate stores?

I was in Calgary recently for the premier of my film at the Calgary International Film Festival. I've been to Calgary before and I have to say I have not heard about artisan chocolate stores in the city, but I stand corrected. I had an amazing experience visiting chocolate stores during my short trip. I highly recommend it to anyone visiting the city.

First stop **Coppeneur**...

Here I met with owner Bruce Toy. The calming aesthetics of the store get you into the chocolatey mood. The colors are brown and green and the chocolates are elegantly displayed. How European I thought and I wasn't wrong, Le Chocolat! Bruce is the North American importer for the German chocolate company known for their truffle and praline lines with soft and creamy fillings. Bruce himself came to chocolate after he sold his "Filmworks Catering' company and honed in on Coppeneur as a result of an Epicurean tour across Europe. > [images: ]"I tasted a lot of chocolate, but the minute I tasted 'Coppeneur' I knew this was it'says Bruce. > The chocolates and cocoa are unique and fresh flavours, among the top sellers are the PURistique single origin bars, the Single origin line which have the name of the farmer stamped on each bar- 'its better than fair trade' says Bruce. So if you want good chocolate with a conscience go to Coppeneur. Bruce loves to talk chocolate.

Look for my review of the next set of Choco stores in the next post. Happy Thanksgiving!
