Small but mighty. A hidden gem filled with retro-chic bars.

Good things come in small packages. Diamonds, gold, and of course, Small-Mart! Don’t be fooled by its name. It may be small but the treats are mighty.

Tucked away in a narrow alleyway between Quark Soup and White Balmer Shoes, this store, at first glance, could be mistaken for a convenience store. But don’t be lead astray, this shop has a trendy bohemian vibe that’s not to be missed. With an emphasis on local goods and materials, Small-Mart may be petite in stature, but step inside and it stands tall. The store is lined with quirky gifts and retro classics. Choco-locate melted for its retro candy bar selection; a true hidden gem! It felt a little like stumbling upon the house that’s giving out full-sized chocolate bars on Halloween- score!

At Small-Mart, you’ll be able to enjoy the chocolates you used to eat as a kid. Remember the Nestlé Caramac bar? It’s a perfect blend of white chocolate and caramel from yester-year. The Caramac is egg free, nut free and fully suitable for vegetarians. Nostalgia points go to the Necco, Sky Bar. It’s been around since 1938 and is the perfect bar for that person who just wants it all. This old time classic offers four different varieties in one bar. Each chocolate square has a different flavor- caramel, vanilla, peanut and fudge. This bar is worth a look, if not for its variety of flavors then at least for it’s retro packaging.

Looking for something unique and fresh? Dig into the Moozoo line of ‘chocolate therapy’. Ditch the card and give this chocolate instead. It’s a greeting and chocolate all in one. Better put, it’s the sweet and delicious alternative to a card. They come in brightly colored packages with sayings like, “Be yourself, everyone else is taken”, “Chocolate is cheaper than therapy and you don’t need an appointment” and “I love you more than chocolate.” Or why not pick up a chocolate inspired coin purse? It’s decorated like a chocolate bar, and is the perfect place to stash your coins.

As a part of the chocolate trail, Small-Mart invites you to come in and grab two retro candy bars of your choice. Bars in hand, be sure to take a gander at the shop’s numerous eccentric and quirky gift items. The line of babushka inspired household items and the vintage-meets-modern jewelry collection are sure to catch your eye. Ever small, ever fab-u-lous!

Small-Mart is open Tuesday to Saturday 10-6 and Sundays 11-5.
