This cheery European style chocolate store has been servicing Toronto’s west end chocolate lovers for 5 years. The range of chocolates include countless dipped truffles, moulded chocolates, cakes and ice cream. And the regular clients range from parents with little kids to couples who make out. “Our lights are too bright, we should look into dimming the lights,” says Olenka, who loves baking and coming up with new creations and seeing them fly off her shelf.
Olenka learnt her trade in her grandfather’s chocolate factory in the Ukraine. She loves ‘playing’ with chocolate and it shows. Her shelves are packed with bars, chocolate covered fruit and confectionary. “We have to offer a variety, and we have to stock a lot in order to satisfy our regular and new customers.” Olenka loves to go shopping for fresh ingredients, which show up in her ‘Anti oxidant blue berry bar’. Check out her ‘Pineapple curry’ or the zen-like ‘Wasabi Budda’. Both are increasing in popularity, as Toronto’s chocolate lovers demand more from their chocolate. “Many people come here for the traditional milk chocolate.” And Sweet Olenka’s has got you covered with a range of dark and milk bon bons and not to mention an endless array of bars.
In addition to chocolates, this scrumptious store also serves a range of ice cream and fair trade coffee. And what better way to while away an afternoon than to sit with a plate of chocolate and try out our recommended pairings? Of course, if you want to have the chocolate with wine or cognac, you’ll have to take a box home with you!
Olenka bakes several times a day so the chocolates are fresh and gooey. She does occasionally takes a break to serve customers. So, if you see her, talk to her- she just may want you to try a new chocolate that reminds her of her childhood days in Lviv, Ukraine.
Sweet Olenka’s is open Monday-Sunday 11am-9pm.

Selecting a box of special chocos is fun and makes such a special gift. Faves: Hot Chilli Dragons, Wasabi Buddahs, and hedgehogs, gold pyramids...:)
